A Sacrifice for Peace

To those Israeli settlers leaving their homes peacefully, in an attempt to gain peace: the world should thank you.

Your painful sacrifice is disproportionate.

I hope time will prove it meaningful.

Thanks for this, M! It probably won't be enough (it's never enough), but it might help. Let's hope so.

Indeed. With all the hubbub and controversy, some folks forget it is to gain something worthy: peace.

You have expressed exactly the way I feel. I heard some of their personal stories on the radio this morning. I hope they will be welcomed warmly and with gratitude wherever they end up living.

a great sacrifice for peace. Tnx to them all for their step forward.

Let's also not forget the Palestinians who have suffered & are suffering in more painful ways.

Thank you so much for saying this. I don't think enough people will. And like you, I hope and pray that this starts Israel and Palestine on the road to peace.

It is inevitable that the settlers in Gaza had to leave their homes. Their taking over of captured territory was problematic right from the beginning and has always been a significant obstacle to peace in the Middle East. I certainly hope this move by the Israeli Government will help establish the conditions for a lasting peace.
